Local health care provider Jerry Clark (C.N.MT. L.M.T) will conduct an introductory seminar on Qigong – a Chinese healing art new to America – at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 12 in the Center for Physical Activity Aerobics and Martial Arts Studio.
Qigong is a very traditional Chinese movement therapy that utilizes flowing, slow motions to treat or prevent a host of ailments.
Similar to the better known discipline Tai Chi, Qigong has been shown to stimulate the healing process through disciplined breathing and movement.
While its foundations may be in the marial arts, its benefits are much deeper than mere exercise and physical activity.
Clark, a certified neuromuscular therapist, has studied under Foo Wei Zhong.
Zhong is the West’s most accomoplished practicioner and teacher of Qigong.
Clark’s presentation will describe the history of the discipline and its healthful benefits.
A PBS documentary will be shown after the presentation.
Participants will also be able to experience a set of basic Qigong movements.
