Dear Editor,
This letter is concerning the article in the last East Tennessean about how Johnson City is lacking entertainment.
That is one of the worst articles I have ever read. I actually wish I had not even read it to begin with.
The writer looks down upon those who drink or perhaps even perform the unspeakable act of smoking pot, hence visiting head shops.
The writer also mentioned how the Johnson City movie theaters are lacking and how their seats are uncomfortable. I guess she visited Reel to Reel Theater and not Carmike 14. There is your problem.
Carmike 14, which is located off North Roan Street, is a great theater and has all you need in a theater.
Johnson City is a great town and offers those willing to venture out of their homes numerous activities, from going hiking at Roan Mountain to going skiing at Sugar Mountain.
If hiking or camping isn’t your cup of tea, perhaps drive down to Winged Deer Park and go fishing or play Frisbee golf.
There is so much to do in this little ol’ town, and the traffic cannot be argued with.
Perhaps you would just like to stroll the streets of the oldest town in Tennessee – if so, Jonesborough is just down the road.
The article also didn’t mention all the activities that consistently go on through ETSU.
There is so much negativity in the media today – let’s try to make our college newspaper a bit on the positive side.
I am not trying to insult the writer of their piece, but Johnson City is a great town. I am appalled I had to even write this letter in the first place.
