Everyone at ETSU knows that basketball is an exciting sport to watch, but what if you add a little Hot Sauce to it?
The 1st Annual Killer Crossover Street Ball Tour rolled into town Saturday, at Brooks Gym. The events started at 7 p.m. with the And 1 team facing the Tri Cities Ballers.The game started off in true And 1 fashion with major dunks and tricks that awed the crowd. Before the game even started, the fans were given a show when the And 1 teammates warmed up their dunks to the cheers and yells of the fans.
After the game started, the And 1 team took control of the game and never let the lead get away from them. At halftime the score was in favor of the And 1 team, 58-40.
The second half of the game consisted of most of the same, dunks, tricks a cheering crowd and the And 1 team walking away with the game. Brooks Gym was packed with standing room barely available.
The Killer Crossover Street Ball Tour consists of players such as Hot Sauce, Helicopter, Hops, Spyda and White Chocolate. Most of these players have been seen on ESPN, the And 1 Mix Tour tapes and the Nike Battle Grounds Tour. Some viewers may also have seen Spyda doing signature upside down dunk in Chingy’s ‘One Call Away’ video.
Hot Sauce is also featured guarding Chingy in the same video. The team consists of street ball plays, which keep the crowds pumped up “It was very entertaining,” sophomore Kristy Shinabery said. “It was fun to watch the crowd’s reaction to the dunks.” Not only did the teams put on a show, the halftime was also a scene. “Half time was so good! I don’t know how those guys can do that,” Shinabery said.
The Tri Cities Ballers may have lost, but they knew that they had won with the crowd.
“It was for entertainment and to support Johnson City,” Sheldon Davis of the Tri Cities Ballers.
