Anyone ready for a race?
Campus Recreation is putting on an Adventure Race to be held April 15th starting at 3 p.m.
The event will start and end at the CPA.
Participants will have to do a number of events in order to make it to the finish line.
Teams of three will compete in climbing, mountain biking and maybe even a little swimming. All of the teams will have to consist of at least one girl and stay close together at all times.
There will be checkpoints in order to make sure that the teams are together.
Brad Yewer hopes that the word ‘race’ does not scare people away “This is not so much a race, but a competition.”
We want it to be more of a fun thing,” Yewer said.
The race was started last year with the ROTC who decided not to carry it this year.
Campus Recreation decided to take on the event to give students something to look forward to.
“Some students may not want to do collegiate or intramural sports so this is something that they can do to have fun,” Yewer said.
Not only will this be a good time for students to get outside and get some exercise, there will also be prizes involved.
Many local businesses and restaurants have gotten involved to donate prizes and food giveaways.
The event will cost $15 per team, only $5 per person, and include free food and a free T-shirt, plus the opportunity to win more.
This event will be open to all students and faculty members.
The event is purposely on Thursday because Campus Recreation is hoping that more students will be able to participate in the event.
They know that there are a lot of students that like to go home for the weekend.
So they wanted it on a day when it could be open to all students and faculty.
They are also hoping that the middle of April will give them warmer weather for the event. Early spring can be cold.
So get your teams ready and race down to the Adventure Race on April 15th.
