The Mockingbird is now accepting submissions for its upcoming issue. Only currently enrolled ETSU undergraduate and graduate students may enter their work.
Students wishing to make literary submissions may get application forms by e-mailing mockingbird@etsu.edu. Applications are also available in Room 101-C, Burleson Hall and in the English department main office. Literary entries are due Nov. 11.
ETSU students who wish to make art submissions must follow a different procedure. Undergraduate and graduate students may submit 2-D art Dec. 2, from 8:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. only. 3-D art submissions will be accepted Dec. 9 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. only. Students must sign up for a five-minute appointment in advance to have their art entries digitally photographed and returned immediately to them. They can find sign-up sheets in Room 315, Ball Hall or call 439-5712 to set up an appointment.
Painting, prints, photography, drawing, fibers, sculpture, ceramics, metals, jewelry, digital media, and graphic design are all welcome. Each student may submit no more than two art entries, which must be 100 percent original, with no sampled or scanned imagery from commercial sources. An outside juror will select the winners for inclusion in the 2006 edition of The Mockingbird. There will be cash awards in addition to publication for winning entries.
