The ETSU softball team recently announced that Arica Klubeck has signed a national letter of intent to join the Lady Bucs for the 2006-07 season.
Klubeck is also the first signee under first-year head coach Andrea Roberts. She is expected to play the middle infield and outfield for the Lady Bucs, upon completing her career at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga.
Klubeck was also a member of the Georgia Mavericks ASA Gold team, one of the top teams in the state of Georgia.
A versatile player, Klubeck played second base and outfield for her summer team, as well as playing shortstop for her high school squad.
“We are thrilled to bring such an outstanding young lady to our program,” said Roberts. “We are expecting Arica to have an immediate impact at the plate because she is a disciplined hitter. She has power and has played against many high-level Division I pitchers in her summer ball program.
“This will help her make a quick adjustment to the level of play she will face in the A-Sun.”
ETSU begins the 2006 season Feb. 15, when Furman comes to Johnson City for two games. The first begins at 1 p.m. at Metro-Kiwanis Park.
