As the school year draws to a close, students will have one last chance to get together with their friends at the Black and White Party in the Cave on Saturday, April 29, from 10 p.m.- 2 a.m.
“This is an end of the year party,” said Lindsey Garth, treasurer of Multicultural Affairs. “We know we wanted to do something special for the end of the year.”
Garth said Multicultural Affairs was involved with the party but that it was a Black Affairs Association (BAA) event.
This is not the first end-of-year party these organizations have planned for students. “We had one last year,” she said. “We had a really good turnout and it was really fun so we thought we should do it again.
“It is a good time for everybody to see each other before summer. They can hang out and spend time together before everyone goes home at the end of the semester.
“This is really good for the people that won’t see their friends until next fall.”
The Black and White Party will feature a variety of entertainment.
“There will be food and drink,” Garth said. “There will be door prizes and music. It will be a house band so there will be dancing, It will just be a really good time.”
Because the theme is black and white, there is a preferred dress code. Attendees of the party should wear black or white, however, those who don’t will not be turned away. “Everybody who comes will be let in,” Garth said.
“We are hoping that people come dressed with the theme but if they don’t that is OK, too. The dress code is preferred but not required.”
As for why this theme was chosen, “We chose it because it was something different,” said Kim Delaney of Multicultural Affairs.
The party will be in the Cave from 10 p.m.- 2 a.m. and admission is free.
“Everybody should just come out and have a good time,” Garth said.
