Physical therapy graduates at ETSU lead all public universities in Tennessee with the highest pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE).
This data was released by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT), which maintains this rigorous exam used to evaluate the readiness of graduates to assume clinical practice.
During the period between 2002-2004, ETSU boasted a pass rate of 98 percent, which was higher than any other physical therapy program at state institutions across Tennessee.
Only Belmont University, a private liberal arts college in Nashville, had a slightly higher score.
“It’s a credit to our faculty and preceptors and this university to enjoy such a high pass rate,” said Dr. David Arnall, chair of ETSU’s physical therapy department. “Clearly, our graduates are receiving a top-notch education and are well prepared to sit for the national exam.”
More than 20 students graduate annually from ETSU’s physical therapy program, which is now being taught at the doctoral level.
