Dear Editor:
I would just like to say that the author of the letter to the editor about the documentary “Death of a President” is wrong. The documentary was not filmed to “fuel the hatred that many people have for” President Bush.
For the record, I’m one of those people who think Bush is a terrible person, but my reason for wanting to see the documentary has nothing to do with my hatred.
If you read the review carefully, you will remember that the documentary is about the LONG-TERM EFFECTS of President Bush’s assassination on the “War on Terror,” not about assassinating him. It’s a valid question, considering that the president is pretty much the person who is keeping this war going.
What would happen to the war, and how would it affect the United States economy, foreign policy, and other areas of interest?
Frankly, I think it’s brilliant to make a documentary about an event that hasn’t happened yet and probably won’t happen. I think it’s even more amazing that the documentary was the idea of a guy from the United Kingdom.
So instead of automatically condemning a movie for a HYPOTHETICAL event, be a little bit more open-minded and realize that it’s something we need to think about, especially if the American hatred for President Bush is as strong as everyone seems to think it is.
