Dear Editor,
In response to the article about the marriage amendment, I can say that after reading the article, I felt as if the author was simply whining. Granted, everyone has a right to their opinion, I still feel like the author made the whole situation all too personal.
The fact that the amendment is going to be voted on should be enough to silence the author. The article seemed to show how the vote would be unfair to supporters of same-sex marriages because the majority of Tennesseans will most likely be against it.
All I have to say about it is, that is the way our government works. Both sides have an opportunity to voice their opinion by casting a vote. If the vote happens to be in favor of the amendment as the author suggested it would be, then that’s too bad for supporters of gay marriage, that’s how our government works. A vote cannot be unfair, some may think the whole concept of the amendment unfair but a vote supported by the majority is not unfair.
I guess what I am really saying is don’t be a cry baby just because it looks like your side will lose, this is democracy, and the majority will rule, whether right or wrong, they will rule.
