It’s that time of year again .the quiet roar of thumbs working furiously, the atmosphere filled with muttered curses, the smell of BAWLS wafting from the ETSU Digital Media Center late into the evening. Yes, that’s right, it’s Fragocity time!
Fragocity 4.5 will be held this Friday, March 16, in the Niswonger Digital Media Center beside the Millenium Centre and across the street from the Mini Dome. The event is scheduled to begin with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. and lasts a whopping 15 hours until 10 a.m. the following morning. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m..
“We are expecting over 100 people this year” said Daniel Gibson, EDGE chair. “The club has put more work into it than we have in previous years, we are excited, and expect everything to turn out really well.”
Participants will need to bring $10 for admission.
Like all Fragocities in years past, this semester’s LAN party will include tournaments to suit a variety of gaming tastes, from PC games to the most popular console games on the market, from Xbox 360 to Playstation 2 to Nintendo Wii.
New to this semester’s Fragocity is the introduction of a Wii Tennis tournament. In addition to Wii Tennis, gamers will be able to choose from a variety of tournament options ranging from Counter-strike: Source to Gears of War to Guitar Hero 2. Tournaments occur at all hours of the night to test gamers’ endurance: Gears of War begins at 8 p.m., Halo 2 at 11 p.m., and Super Smash Brothers Melee at 5:30 a.m.
A complete list of tournament options, times, and rules is available at the official Fragocity website. Gamers are advised to show up as early as possible to register for their desired tournaments, as rosters fill up quickly.
Those wishing to attend Johnson City’s premier LAN party should sign up ASAP as spots are limited to only 120 people. A pre-registration form can be found on the Fragocity Web site. Admission can be purchased at the door, but only pre-registration will guarantee your spot.
Gamers are required to supply their own consoles and games, and are asked to respect others’ possessions. If possible, gamers should bring their own computers, televisions, and ethernet cables.
