Forty percent a victory
Dear Editor,
So when is football coming back? This looks like a victory for football. You are telling me that over 40 percent of the student population is willing to give a significant amount of money for football? That is a victory for football, no matter how the issue is spun by Stanton and Mullins.
Let’s have a vote on golf, tennis and baseball. Do you think with a chance of tuition and fee savings that any of those sports would get over 40 percent support?
What if we voted to shut down the history department or medical school with significant savings to students? Most would vote to save money when they were not directly benefiting from the program.
This “victory” of 40 percent in my opinion should drive the “ETSU leadership” to take this football and run with it.
Let’s get on with bringing back football and claim the victory that was won during the student vote. Anyone with academic integrity would interpret 40 percent approval to significantly raise fees clear support for football.
