I’m all for a good joke, but even I missed the humor in Don Imus’ ill-placed comment.
If you guys think that it’s just me missing the humor go say that to your girlfriend, sister, mom or even some random woman on the street and see how many laughs and/or kicks to the jewels you get. I’d be willing to wager you’ll be doing more bobbing and weaving than belly laughing.
For decades Imus has made a living off of pushing the envelope but seriously someone needs to tell Mr. Imus what year this is and that the days of “Jim Crow” and “mammy” jokes are long past us.
What does someone’s appearance have to do with their God-given ability to excel at a particular task?
I don’t think Imus understood the responsibility that comes along with a national radio show and a cable simulcast.
His job is not a right; it’s a privilege. If I wrote those same words within one of my columns I would be yanked from this position faster than you could call Al Sharpton.
If Imus really wanted to be funny he should have pointed out that both teams shot less than 30 percent from the field making the finals look more like a recreation league than championship college basketball.
But hey that’s just me and my warped sense of humor!
What the @$#!.
