Dear Editor,
I wrote the following poem while watching news coverage of the horrific event at Virginia Tech.
Emotions set in when the reality of how easily this could have happened to students here, myself or someone I love. I wrote this in memory of those who lost their lives at Virginia Tech, and my heart goes out to the classmates, family and friends of these victims.
Tragedy on Campus:
Cold Virginia morning in April thirty-two lay slain, a reason for massacre the answers why unknown. … these precious lives taken in vain. Sounds of tragedy haunting gunshots, sirens, screams now plague the minds of many for wounds cut so deep … impossible healing seems. Communities in mourning lives turned upside down, senseless tragedy of one ending in silence … as the gunman hits the ground.
