Dear Editor,
All sides are wrong in the recent furor caused by the visit of Matt Bourgault, T.C. Matney and Israel Ochoa.
The “good Christians” and “bad Christians” (as reported by the East Tennessean) both presented erroneous arguments about sin, sinners, heaven and hell.
Your editorial viewpoint regarding the same topic is also totally warped. There are no contradictions in the Holy Bible. Neither is the Almighty God of the Holy Bible the egotist you falsely accuse him to be.
The truth of the whole matter can be found only in the Holy Bible itself.
There are several places in the Holy Bible to find this truth, but Jesus Christ completely summarizes the whole topic of sin in The Gospel of John, Chapter 3:6-21. Jesus Christ is the one and only savior of the world.
Sin does not send a person to hell; rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior from sin is what sends people to hell.
The only solution for the sin problem is accurately presented in the following verses. Read and analyze them carefully. The truth of these verses can set you free from your sin, should you believe them and put your faith in the lord Jesus Christ.
We are not all God’s children either. Again, Jesus Christ makes this clear in John 8:44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
Jesus was talking to the most religious people of that day when He says something to the affect of, religion does not save a person; nor does good works, nor does just being a good ole’ boy.
Jesus makes this statement about salvation in The Gospel of John chapter 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”
Jesus declared earlier in John 10:30 that he is, in fact, God (I and my Father are one.)
No one, yourself included, can set the criteria for Salvation. The almighty, sovereign God has forever established the criteria for salvation.
God does not accept peoples’ ideas about salvation. He will not accept peoples’ excuses for not trusting in his only begotten son (plus or minus nothing) for salvation.
What you do with this letter is your business. I wrote it in hopes it will open your heart to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rejecting Jesus Christ as your personal savior will most certainly land your soul in hell for eternity after death. We are not talking “chance” here; we are talking “for sure.”
-Sincerely in Christ,
Vince Cowan
