Need something to do this weekend? At 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, Gatsby’s will be hosting a concert by Pink Floydian Slip. This Pink Floyd tribute band is sure to leave its audience in astonishment.
With “The Wizard of Oz” playing in sequence to the “Dark Side of the Moon,” along with a laser light show, this concert will blow your mind.
Steve Edwards, who played for Ronnie James Dio in the 1970s, is Pink Floydian Slip’s guitarist.
Tri-Cities concert promoter, Ansley Roberts, attended their last show at Gatsby’s in May of this year.
“We had a really good crowd,” Roberts said. “I remember looking up at the light show and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and I said to the person next to me: ‘This is probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in a night club.'”
For those of you who aren’t very fond of cover bands, Pink Floydian Slip will make you change your mind. “If you shut your eyes, you would think it’s really Pink Floyd playing,” Roberts said.
Even if you don’t like Pink Floyd, this show will still amaze you. “I am not the biggest Pink Floyd fan in the world, but they make you a Pink Floyd fan,” Robert said. “It’s just the most well-done, professionally executed, light show-sequencing tribute to Pink Floyd.”
If you’ve never watched “The Wizard of Oz” while listening to “Dark Side of the Moon,” the music flows in perfect sequence with every changing scene of the film. There have been a lot of theories about this over the years. Was this done on purpose by Pink Floyd, or is it just a crazy fluke? I guess the only people who could truly answer that question would be Pink Floyd.
Imagine watching “The Wizard of Oz” on a large projector screen with the Dark Side of Oz magnificently played by a live band. Come to Gatsby’s on Saturday night and you won’t have to merely imagine it.
“You don’t really have to hype this band at all.” said Roberts. “Nobody will leave this show disappointed that they spent $10 to see it.”
Gatsby’s is located on 227 E. Main St. near Halo’s. For more information on Pink Floydian Slip, check them out on http://www.myspace.com/pinksfloydianslip
