Dear Editor,
The article in the Feb. 7 paper about the presidential candidates not only shows the obvious bias this paper has toward the Democratic party (I am neither for or against either party, both sides have points that I consider valid, so I’m not pointing fingers), but completely focuses on some of the least important issues facing America in the next 4 or more years.
We all know about the Republican and Democratic stances on gay marriage and abortion, it has been pounded into our heads far more times than needed.
Instead of telling us what we know about each party’s stance on these issues how about we hear the candidates’ stances on our overseas relations with other countries, our economy (possibly the most pressing issue), or the looming threat of war with Iran or any countries who obviously pose a threat to our national security.
How about we hear about how they plan to help things outside of our own nation; the worldwide AIDS pandemic, the trouble in Darfur, or any of the abundant problems around the world.
Gay marriage and abortion are important to many people in America, but instead of making these the focus of this election let’s focus on who could actually lead this country and find ways to change things for the better.
