Dear Editor,
G. Michael Thomas’ spiel on government (March 13 issue), while compelling, is Busch-league.
His data is completely unqualified and unsourced. For instance, the corn: on March 30, 2007, the Department of Agriculture released its prospective planting report which predicted a 15 percent increase in corn production from 2006, totaling 90.5 million acres. I found that info first try on Google.
That’s the sort of statistics you need to include in your arguments, duh.
I’m in the same boat as Joel Tramel; if you’re going to make pointed rebukes of government policy, you better be prepared to back your s*** up.
Potheads aplenty will tell you all about how they “heard the government is blanking the blank,” and as far as I’m concerned, Thomas’ arguments lend about the same credence.
Show me some credible data, not puerile diatribes on the Big G-O-V.
