Summer is right around the corner and the ETSU and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum at the Gray Fossil Site invites students ages 8-12 to pre-register for Paleo-Pioneer Camp scheduled during the month of July.
With only four one-week sessions for just 30 campers per week, available spots will fill quickly as summer approaches. Session 1 runs July 7-11, and Session 2 will be held July 14-18. Session 3 is planned for July 21-25, and Session 4 takes place July 28-Aug. 1.
Students who have completed grades 2-6 will explore the various aspects of the scientific field alongside expert paleontologists with ETSU’s Don Sundquist Center of Excellence in Paleontology.
Starting at 8:30 a.m., an adventure-filled experience awaits the campers until they leave at 4:15 p.m.
Some activities include dry screening for fossils on the dig site, identifying micro-fossils in the lab, making “slime,” hiking fossil site grounds, and various arts and crafts.
Those with Natural History Museum Family Level Memberships will receive a $10 discount off the fee. Additional fee information and printable forms for registration and other requirements are available at www.grayfossilmuseum.com.
