On Wednesday, April 16, at 7 p.m., the ETSU environmental studies minor and the ETSU student organization ICE (Initiative for Clean Energy) will host a live interactive webcast entitled “Chill Out: Campus Solutions to Global Warming.”
The free, public event will be held in the Forum Room located on the third floor of the D.P. Culp University Center.
Produced with the support of the National Wildlife Federation, the webcast heralds a competition to encourage innovative and creative solutions to global warming.
This second annual broadcast recognizes “effective initiatives on campuses that are making a real difference in the fight against global warming.”
The 10 winning campuses for 2007 initiated innovative projects such as covering roof space with solar panels to generate electricity, meeting campus heating requirements with geothermal energy, and using real-time energy monitoring systems to track and reduce energy waste.
The 2008 broadcast will highlight last year’s winning efforts to confront global warming.
A student-moderated panel discussion with the winners and leading global warming scientists will take place in real-time.
Students viewing the webcast can ask questions from their campuses, and the winning YouTube video entry will be shown.
