The department of theatre and dance is looking forward to showcasing its skills in their upcoming shows, “These Shining Lives” and “James and the Giant Peach”.

“I’m very excited to present this show, and I hope everyone enjoys it,” said senior Seth Buckles, cast member of “These Shining Lives”.

“These Shining Lives” is a four-day production that will take place in the Bert C. Bach Theatre starting Oct. 5. at 7:30 p.m.

A 90-minute play written by Melanie Marnich, it tells the true and emotional story of the 92 women that went to work for Radium Dial Company when it first opened its doors. Taking place in the early to mid -1900s, in Ottawa, Illinois, “These Shining Lives” showcases the strength of these women as they fight for justice to take back what was wrongfully stolen from them — their health. They put the company on the spot as they shine a light on the known radium poisoning of their employees, saving the lives of those who came after them.

Tickets for the show are currently on sale for $10 for students and $20 for the public. Tickets are available up until the first day of production, Oct. 5.

The department will also be performing Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach” from Nov. 16-19. Showtimes will vary across the production dates, but opening night will start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 by ETSU students and children and $25 for the public.

The ETSU Martin Center for the Arts will open its doors for both shows an hour prior to the showing, and the theatre’s doors will be open 30 minutes prior.
