Patchwork Players, a student-run theatre organization, will present its Broadway Backwards Musical Revue on Thursday, April 30, at 7:30 P.M. in the Matha Street Culp Auditorium. The event is free for all attendees.

This show will be performed in a gender-bent format and will feature songs from musical productions like Wicked and The Outsiders. As an example, Jocy Howard, Patchwork Players Technical Director, shares a preview of the show.

“‘What Is This Feeling’ from Wicked will be performed by two male performers, Sal Faccadio and Jonah Harris-Furches,” Howard said.

Howard also explains that all performers are ETSU students. She comments that most are involved with the Department of Theatre & Dance or the Department of Music’s concert choirs and performance groups.

However, Patchwork Players is not exclusive to these departments. In fact, Howard shares that students from all colleges and majors at ETSU are encouraged and welcome to join.

“To me, Patchwork Players is an opportunity for students across ETSU’s campus, not just Theatre students, to be able to act, direct, sing, design, dance, stage manage, and so much more!” Howard said.

Howard mentions the incredibly successful “Dancing with the Bucs” show put on last month as an example of how Patchwork Players brings entertainment to campus, with participation from students across a variety of majors.

“It is a way to bring community and fun events to campus that you normally wouldn’t see,” Howard said.

There are many ways for students to get involved and connected with Patchwork Players. Howard recommends checking out the Instagram page @etsupatchwork and BucHub. For any specific questions, she can be reached at howardj9@etsu.edu.

“We have a lot of exciting opportunities coming up next school year that people are not going to want to miss,” Howard said.

Offering opportunities for actors, directors, playwrights, technicians and designers, Patchwork encourages all students, from all career paths, to reach out and get involved.
