Pepper’s Grill hosts karaoke every Monday from 6-8 p.m., offering a welcoming environment for singers of all experience levels. The event also gives students an opportunity to meet new people and step outside their comfort zones.
Performers sing music from a variety of genres. Last week’s selections included country, metal, musical theater and indie songs. The event uses KaraFun, a karaoke platform that offers thousands of songs, including current music and traditional karaoke favorites.
The event is sponsored by Buctainment, and performers may be featured on the organization’s Instagram page.
Freshman Ruby Anderson attended for the first time on Sept. 21. Despite her initial nerves, Anderson sang “Never Enough” from “The Greatest Showman” and “Baby, Now That I Found You” by Ella Bright.
“My go-to karaoke song has got to be ‘Ice Ice Baby’ by Vanilla Ice because it gets everyone hype,” Anderson said.
Freshman Addyson Armbruster has a passion for singing. She played Ariel in her local theater’s production of “The Little Mermaid.” Her go-to karaoke song is “Part of Your World” from the musical. She also enjoys performing songs by Laufey.
Even if singing isn’t for you, students can gather a group of friends and watch their peers perform. The weekly event offers a free activity for students, with food available for purchase.
