Just when it seemed that reality shows had covered all possible grounds, UPN unleashed its summer smash America’s Next Top Model.
The show documents 10 aspiring models, living in a penthouse and competing to prove their inner and outer beauty. Each week one is eliminated, bringing the remaining contestants one step closer to the grand prize: the opportunity for a Revlon modeling contract and a guaranteed spot in Marie Claire.
Tyra Banks, host, judge and producer of the show, leads the hopefuls in intense model-training exercises each day, ranging from catwalking competitions to make-up-applying races.
Is Model indicative of a new path of networking or is this show just a sad attempt by UPN to overpublicize a beauty competition for ratings?
Whatever the case, it’s not up to the viewers this time. A panel of celebrity judges has already eliminated half of the contestants.
So stay glued to your television as contestants undergo group bikini waxes and reptile-friendly photo shoots in the fierce competition to becoming America’s Next Top Model.
