Dear Editor,
Sometimes living in the redneck Bible Belt has its advantages. Like, for example, the city’s rejection of the SGA’s Homecoming concert pick – I say SGA because I was never asked who I would like to bring for Homecoming with my $16 activity fee increase.
But, go Redneck Right and your censorship of anything that seems slightly off color (i.e. people who do not exude the good Christian morals of our community).
It is nice to see that the “real adults” in our community know how to circumvent the First Amendment with a fire marshal for the Mini Dome, and an outright “no” for the use of Freedom Hall.
I think it is a wise move to scare diversity and future prospective students away from our university, because the portrayal – through music – of an urban, ghetto lifestyle is not fit for good Christian ears.
And let’s just be honest, this area – full of crazed, conservative lunatics – is about 20 years behind the times anyway.
So, I have one suggestion for next year’s Homecoming concert: Faith Plus One.
Oh by the way (you are getting sleepy, sleepy), there are no other cultures besides the white-conservative-Christian one.
