The United States is divided on issues, usually with two sides – Democrat and Republican.
The group towards the more liberal-left side is Democratic. The conservative, group leaning towards traditionalism is Republican. The problem with this system is clear. It causes Americans to be divided and have more conflict instead of being a more productive, efficient nation.
Why can’t a person simply state what she or he believes in without drawing invisible lines that create barriers between one another. One side believes their right – the other side is totally wrong.
This belief, that one party is right and the other wrong allows us easier to be controlled. Is that what we want for people to be able to have power over us?
In a presidential election, if people choose to define themselves as a Democrat or Republican, will people vote for who they feel is the better candidate regardless of what party that person is in? I think not.
Most Americans will vote for the person in their party, even if it is someone they don’t particularly care for or agree with. So, without listening to the two candidates’ arguments and comparing the views, one has already chosen who should be voted in.
This way of doing things has been the norm for many years, and therefore, the United States won’t easily change it. We’re the U.S., it’s what we’re based on – democracy.
However, having two opinions -one ‘right’ and the other ‘wrong’ – only divides and creates a nation full of chaos and intolerance.
When are we going to realize that no one party is wrong or right? We are simply different people with different perspectives, and isn’t that what America prides itself on?
