Love your honey? Like your sweetie? Wanna get it on with that hottie in your Prob and Stats class? Sure you do.
And the only way to accomplish any of these things is to check out the Student Painting and Drawing Association’s fourth annual Valentine’s Card Sale.
Being held today, Feb. 9, Friday, Feb. 10 and Monday, Feb. 13 in the D.P. Culp Center, second floor Booth No. 2, the sale offers sweet and funky tokens of affection.
Each card will be handmade by the talented and twisted students from the Department of Art and Design.
As everyone knows, the best gifts either cost several thousand dollars or are handmade. Now, being that you are a college student, you do not have the money to drop a few grand on a VD gift, nor do you have the time to painstakingly glue macaroni to a plate (and form a creepy pasta visage of your beloved). That’s why the kids in the SPDA have taken the time to hand-make some cards for you.
Given the choice of getting a prefab Hallmark card that says “I love you AND I have no imagination or the desire to put more than two seconds of thought into your gift” or an original SPDA card that speaks volumes of true human emotion and caring, every sweetie, honey or crush will prefer the latter.
Be it Geoff Pratt’s array of disturbingly funny yet sickly touching tokens of caring or Ericka Basile’s cute displays of almost sane affection, these cards show more than the desire to fulfill your obligation to give something this Valentine’s Day. They show that you really care.
This sale will be a fundraiser for the SPDA’s visiting artist fund and will help fund their annual museum trip to an artistically rich U.S. city.
