Dear Editor,
I do not believe that being a Hooters girl is a bad thing, but obviously the cheerleading coach at ETSU does. She recently booted a member of the team off because she was working as a waitress at Hooters.
Hooters is a fine dining establishment that serves many different choices of foods and beverages. Hooters has what I like to call a “guy” atmosphere. They offer big screen televisions so patrons will not miss the big game. There are no men waiting tables, and this is what sets the restaurant apart.
Women wait tables. These women wear tank tops and short shorts. A lot of people believe that other’s flesh is inherently evil and do not go to Hooters because of this fact.
Guys like to admire young, visually attractive females. Guys also like to admire basketball.
I would say that men make up the majority of college basketball fans.
College basketball teams have a group of girls that stand and cheer for the team. These girls are young, and visually attractive. They wear assorted tops and short skirts. They also do many stunts where spectators can see up their skirts. They wear very small trunks under the shorts that barely manage to cover their underwear.
I wish for every person to think about the similarities between these two situations that a young woman could find herself in: wearing short shorts and serving food while getting paid, or clapping and smiling constantly for a college that does not support you.
We have cheerleaders because it adds to the atmosphere. They allow only attractive ladies to work at Hooters because of the same thing.
