The Atlantic Sun Conference office announced that ETSU outfielder, C.J. Lee, has been named the Player of the Week, and ETSU right-handed pitcher Brandon Langston, has been named the Pitcher of the Week. It is the third and fourth weekly awards for the Bucs this season.
This is the first player of the week award won by Lee this season. Lee won the award twice in 2006. This is the first career pitcher of the week award given to Langston.
ETSU sweeps the awards for the first time in its two-year history in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Lee exploded out of an early season slump, hitting .632 (12-19) with a double, two home runs and three RBI while also accruing a stratospheric 1.000 slugging percentage and leading the Bucs to a 3-1 record for the week.
The senior outfielder hit both home runs in the Bucs’ weekend series victory over North Florida, helping power the 5-0 opening game victory with a third-inning two-run homer. His fourth inning solo shot in the series finale started the Bucs’ seven-run rally from a 4-1 deficit en route to an 8-4 series clinching triumph.
On the season the Bristol, Va. native is hitting .337 with a team-leading 10 doubles, three home runs and seven RBI.
Langston threw a five-hit shutout in the Bucs’ series opening victory over North Florida this past weekend. Keeping the Ospreys off balance with a variety of pitches, the Ringgold, Ga., native notched his fifth consecutive win and first career complete game. In addition to allowing just five hits, the interdisciplinary studies major also struck out a career-high eight batters.
In his last six starts Langston is 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA and 31 strikeouts. On the season, Langston is 5-1 with a 2.02 ERA and 34 strikeouts.
