Harley Quinn, Jack Skeleton, Russel from “Up,” Rocky Balboa and many other guests came together at the CPA fields in a Halloween celebration filled with dancing, screaming and shopping.

On Oct. 27, starting at 7 p.m., PartyBucs and Campus Recreation hosted the food truck and vintage flea market part of the night. Many local merchants set up to sell including Alberto Gufias and @JckVintage. Diggy Doughnuts sold their doughnuts, and Campus Rec gave away free popcorn.

“It’s a fully immersive and fully expressive space,” said Caelan Peterson, the coordinator of student engagement for athletics and student life and staff advisor to Party Bucs.

There were recreational games like cup pong, bicycle racing and corn hole. There were tables and chairs set up for patrons to relax.

All the costumes could include masks and face paint, and be as gory and expressive as the wearer wanted; the only exception was nudity. Like all PartyBucs events, there were no alcohol or drugs. There was a costume contest where PartyBucs awarded the “Best Costume” a toilet seat.

“PartyBucs saw the need for the under-representative,” said Peterson. “It makes you feel like you are a part of a community.”

At 9 p.m. the Halloween portion of the event started, where the Haunted House and Halloween party opened in the CPA. The CPA was decorated with horror movie posters and animatronics. Everyone signed in with their E-number and name for a headcount and safety. There were guest appearances from ETSU’s famous horror star, Michael Myers and Hannah Montana.

The dance party filled the CPA gym with strobe lights and music from a DJ.

The Haunted House was hosted by Campus Rec and constructed by Halie Darby. There were eight scare actors, all volunteers decorated in glow gloves and Purge masks.

“We have actors who are really passionate about wanting to have a haunted house,” said Darby.

The rules of the Haunted House were: No touching the actors, small groups and no flash photography or lights. The house was ADA accessible, pull-out optional and monitored closely. There were airhorns, strobe lights, black lights, speakers, microphones and spider webs.

Bucky’s Fright Fest was also known as “BFF.” PartyBucs gave away limited-edition Buc Badges at the event and free Bucky’s Fright Fest t-shirts.

The night finished around 11 p.m., concluding PartyBucs’ last event of the semester, but they are already planning many more thrilling events for the spring.
