Sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) matched his career low for three-round score with a 4-under-par 212 and junior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) posted his 12th career top three finish as the ETSU men’s golf team finished seventh Tuesday in the VCU/Mattaponi Springs Shootout at the Mattaponi Springs Golf Club.
Shaw, who finished tied for 7th on the individual leaderboard, enjoyed his best career finish, while Davies fired his second 67 of the tournament to finish third at 10-under 206.
Other ETSU finishes included sophomore Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) placing tied for 46th, while freshmen Adam Hodkinson (Dore, England) finished tied for 42nd.
Davies, who now has 17 career sub-70 rounds, finished four strokes back of individual champion Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons also won the team competition with a score of 25-under 839, blowing away second-place Kent State by 14 strokes.
The Bucs ended the event at 2-under 862 after firing their best individual round of the tournament with a 284 on Tuesday.
The Bucs will return home to enjoy several days off before hosting the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges Oct. 15-16.
