On Tuesday, ETSU Seniors painted a square on the Pride Walk.
This was the first time Pride Walk painting has been offered to seniors. At the painting event, the seniors in attendance decorated their square with their handprints and their names.
The senior square, which serves as a physical representation of Buccaneer pride, can be found at the beginning of ETSU’s Pride Walk, a pedestrian walking path in front of Lunsford, Dossett, West and Ross Hall.
The event was open to all seniors but aimed to give students who did not participate in painting the Pride Walk during freshman preview, such as transfer students, the opportunity to leave their mark on campus.
Painting the walk was a full-circle moment for seniors such as roommates Emily Rice and Sydney Neal. Neal said the event was “sentimental because it is our last year together” since they are going their separate ways after graduation.
Rice participated in painting the walk as a freshman during preview, but since then the walkway has moved from in front of Carter Hall. Since she lived in both Carter and Lunsford during her time at the school, the event let her put her mark everywhere she lived.
