The Lady Bucs’ tennis team fell to Southern Conference rival Davidson, 7-0, Friday afternoon from Covington Courts in Davidson, N.C.
Davidson won the doubles point by sweeping both matches. At No. 1 doubles, Meghan and Kelly Fillnow defeated the ETSU team of sophomore Jessica Irey and freshman Gemma Halim, 8-5. At No. 2 doubles, Gayle Jones and Meggie Peterson of Davidson defeated sophomores Aimee Villavicencio and Tatiana Arrarian of ETSU, 8-6.
The Wildcats kept their momentum in the singles matches, losing just one set in the six contests.
At No. 1 singles, Kelly Fillnow of Davidson defeated Halim, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Davidson’s Peterson was victorious at No. 2 singles over ETSU’s Irey, 6-1, 6-2.
Arrarian fell to Davidson’s Meghan Fillnow, 6-2, 7-6 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 4 singles, Buccaneer Villavicencio fell to Wildcat Kelley Cantrell, 6-0, 6-0. Davidson’s Yasamine Hilu defeated ETSU sophomore Heather Jones at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Buccaneer junior Charmaine Luvis fell to Wildcat Katherine Hatch, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
The loss drops the Lady Bucs’ record to 1-15 on the season, 0-4 in Southern Conference play. Davidson runs their record to 11-4, 1-2 in the SoCon.
