UNC-Wilmington’s Jamie Gostyla tossed a complete-game shutout, limiting ETSU to three hits, as the Seahawks took game three of the two-day series, 2-0, Sunday and the Bucs split with Seahawks on Saturday.UNCW has won two straight SoCon games to improve to 15-17 overall and 2-1 in conference play. ETSU goes to 13-10 and 1-2 in the SoCon.
Gostyla retired 15 straight batters in picking up her fourth shutout this season with a 6-9 record. The right hurler walked none with two strikeouts.
ETSU managed three singles by freshmen Janine Sprague and Jessica Lonsinger and sophomore Lindsay Lane.
Tiffany McVay pitched a complete game, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits for the Buccaneers. McVay picked up the loss to dip to 6-3 on the year.
ETSU returns home for a three-game series versus UNC Greensboro over the weekend.
