Dear Editor,
I have a burning need to address the issue of implementing an athletic fee. Someone please explain to me why we are attempting to pump more wasted dollars into programs that continually fail to bring money into the system?
Besides this, we are further forfeiting ETSU’s reputation. Many faculty members no longer have phones in their offices and make copies on paper that they bought with their own money. Some of our best professors are leaving for schools that will allow them to both teach and further enhance their own careers.
Sports are not helping us in any way here at ETSU. They are, in fact, harming both our wallets and our education.
I think that it is truly pathetic and a testament to our somewhat askew priorities that entire colleges were cut and numerous faculty were fired before ETSU officials even began to examine the sports programs. And now, besides being faced with further tuition hikes, students who couldn’t care less about athletics might be forced to pay for them while still suffering the consequences of a rapidly falling standard of education. May I just take my stand and say ABSOLUTELY NOT! Unacceptable. Try again.
