The SGA election held April 1-2 came to a dramatic conclusion when Jarrod Suits beat Ethan Flynn for the presidential position by a mere eight votes.
After being tied at several points during the election and each being in the lead at different times, Suits pulled ahead in the final moments when the polls closed at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
Suits’ running mate, Kayla Griffith, also won her race against James Sheffey, winning the vice presidential seat by 420 votes.
Lindsey Houston, the unopposed candidate for secretary/ treasurer position, won with 1,227 votes.
Nate Bailey, another candidate for president, came in third with 379 votes.
Jared Ball came in behind Bailey with 161 votes.
There were several write-in votes for the senatorial positions.
For the College Arts & Science, Continuing Studies and Undeclared are Daniel Hatcher, Michelle Miller, Brian McCormack, Bethany Jablonski, Chad Barnett, Sarah Maurice, Kobelah Bennah, Hunter Bradford, Renate Bennett, Diana Bowers, Seth Bartee, Miranda Ashley Lane, Amy Osborne and Megan McEntire.
The senators for Applied Science and TEchnology are Latasha Clark, Joana Adjaidoo, Josh Shearin and Erica Jamilia Brooks.
The senators for the College of Business are Jason Coffey, Sharon Leinaar and Angela Parton.
The senators for the College of Education are Erica Washington, Brandi Garner and Brian Dunn.
The College of Nursing senators are Abby Gutzman and Amy Love Talbott.
The College of Public and Allied Health senator is Andrew Baert.
The senator at the Kingsport Center is Dale Neumann.
The senator of the College of Medicine is Nora Azzazy.
