Sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) finished 15th with a three-round score of 233 to help lead the ETSU women’s golf team to a 6th-place finish Tuesday in the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville at the Cardinal Club.
The Lady Bucs who posted a team score of 945 finished six strokes back of fifth place UCF, but bested seven other teams in the field.
Georgia State won top honors by 13 strokes over Kentucky, while the host Cardinals finished in third with a team score of 915.
Georgia State’s Lisbeth Meincke made it a sweep for her program, winning the individual medalist honors with a score of 215, besting Kentucky’s Erin Ringdahl by three strokes.
Other ETSU results included sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) with a score of 236 which tied her for 25th, while freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) ended the event tied for 28th at 237.
Seniors Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) and Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, P.R.) finished tied for 41st and 43rd, respectively.
Sophomore Cindy Phillips (Johnson City, Tenn.) also competed and finished tied for 65th.
The Lady Bucs will continue with fall season play Oct. 1-2 at the Great Smokies Championships in Waynesville, N.C.
