March madness is just around the corner.
There is no better place to get the ball rolling than right here in the Memorial Center on ETSU campus.
The Atlantic Sun Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament will take place here March 2, 3 and 4.
The Buccaneer’s are in a three-way tie for third place in the division right now. The boys play the top two teams in the conference over the weekend to close out the regular season.
The winner of the A-Sun conference tournament earns an automatic appearance into the NCAA field of 64 teams.
Ben Rhoda, the career one thousand point-plus guard for the Bucs, will likely miss the rest of the season with a high ankle sprain. Therefore it is important to pack out the Mini-Dome in order to give the wounded Buccaneers a boost into a hopeful NCAA tournament.
Since the Atlantic Sun Tournament is not sponsored by ETSU, students will have to come up with an alternate to the student I.D. to gain free entry to the madness.
Fortunately the SGA has passed legislation that will allow students to pick up free tickets for the tournament.
The Student Government Association will have tickets available starting Monday, Feb. 27. They will be giving them away on the bottom level of the Culp Center at Ticket Booth C by the Post Office. They will be giving them away Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
If ETSU wins on Thursday, students can pick-up an additional ticket for the game Friday night on Friday during these same hours.
Kevin Bostian, promotions coordinator for ETSU athletics said there is another way for some students to gain free access to the A-Sun tourney, “If someone is a Buc Wild member they can come by the marketing and Pirate Club offices to get their tickets.”
There is a third and final way students can get a ticket to the games. Subway is putting up some bread just for the big tournament. A student can go to any of the four Subways below and bring the signed receipt to the ETSU Ticket Office or ticket booth the day of the game to receive their free student ticket.
They must purchase at least a 6-inch sub to get the free ticket.

With personal goals out of the way for the basketball Buccaneers it’s time to support them in their team quest of a return trip to the Big Dance.
