Dear Editor,
As a recent alumnus who regularly supports ETSU athletics I want to comment on what a joke the students are as fans of the school they go to.
Upon arriving at the Kennesaw State game Friday night, I expected to see droves of students painted up, carrying signs, wearing whatever crazy outfits they could find, whatever.
Instead I find about 1000 mutes sitting down for a majority of the game, making ZERO noise. It’s really sad when the 40 and 50 something alums are more rowdy than the students, and it takes the homecoming queen to come over to alum and ask: “Can you help me get them fired up?”
All I remember hearing on this campus is how everyone wants it to be more like a “REAL” campus. Well, athletics is one of the ways that happens. I firmly believe that we make our own experiences, but it seems that a VAST majority on campus right now would rather sit down and complain about how life at ETSU is no fun. You know we have two basketball teams that right now are at or near the top of their conference, and a chance at doing something pretty special that doesn’t happen here often. Hopefully you guys will actually do what is on the shirts you bought and GET BUC WILD!
By the way, I am embarrassed at how pathetic our students were for a TV game AT HOME last Friday night.
