Olya Batsula added another win to her perfect A-Sun career record as she defeated North Florida’s Florencia Torres and handed the Osprey’s their first loss of the season to pick up Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors.
Batsula, a junior sports management major, bested UNF’s Torres 6-2, 6-4 and less than two hours after the conclusion of that set, started another against Tennessee Tech’s Margot Carter in the No. 1 position. The Minsk, Belarus native garnered a 6-4, 7-6 win against Carter.
She also partnered with Masha Ilina to pick up an 8-6 win in the No. 2 doubles spot against UNF.
The two wins for ETSU moved them to 5-6 on the season, but more importantly gave them a perfect start to conference play where they are tied with Campbell for the top spot in the A-Sun.
The award is the first for Batsula and marks back-to-back weeks an ETSU student-athlete has been honored.
