Dear Editor,
I just love how everyone has something to complain about Homecoming. “We don’t have a football team anymore,” “I don’t like Ludacris,” blah diddyblahblahblah.
The truth is, if ETSU brought the Messiah, people would still have something to complain about.
Let me ask you this: I’ve heard so much ranting and pouting about not having a football team, but how many of you actually cared when the team was here? How many of you went to the games and cheered on your home team?
There are currently 665 members in the “Bring back ETSU football” Facebook group.
I went to every home game except for two because I was on duty in my dorm, and the only time I ever saw that many people “support” our football team was at the Homecoming game.
But alas, after they announced the Homecoming King and Queen at halftime everyone left. No one cared. So why do so many people care now?
No, we don’t have a football team and probably won’t for a long time, but think about all the other teams and other athletes at ETSU who want you to cheer them on.
Think about all those already busy students who are working hard to provide you with some excitement and something to do, not only during Homecoming, but throughout the whole semester.
The school cannot accommodate to everyone’s personality or interests, but at least try to appreciate what is going on now before even that much goes away.
